NEPA Partners with Environmental Law Society…
…Stages One-Day Expo
on Environmental Laws
In an effort to determine the effectiveness of environmental laws in Jamaica,
the Environmental Law Society in collaboration with the National Environment and
Planning Agency (NEPA) will stage a one-day expo at the Normal Manley Law School,
on Monday January 26. Highlights of the day include a panel discussion and a display
exhibit. Activities get underway at 8:00 a.m.
Organised under the theme “The Effectiveness of Environmental Laws in Jamaica”,
members of staff of NEPA and popular environmentalists Peter Espeut and Diana McCauley
will participate in the panel discussion, which starts at 1:00 p.m.
The objectives of the expo are to promote and enhance the work of the Environmental
Law Society and to solidify NEPA’s relationship with the organization. It comes as part
of the Agency’s attempts to promote the importance of the law in arresting environmental
abuses and as a tool for environmental education.
The expo targets tertiary and secondary level students, lecturers and teachers,
attorneys-at-law, as well as members of the public, who are invited to come out and
support this initiative.
