Legislation
The proposed Ozone Act is currently being reviewed by government and other relevant bodies. The Act is expected to incorporate all relevant legislation developed so far to deal with controls on ODSs, provide for a certification and licensing regime for refrigeration technicians, and
should include penalties for importing ODS without a licence and the venting of ODS into the atmosphere.
The importation and restriction of importation ODSs are governed by Ministerial Orders.
Controls regarding Methyl Bromide, its use and importation are being implemented under the Pesticides Act through the Pesticides Control Authority.
Prohibited CFC Based Equipment and Substances
The importation of the following CFC-based air-conditioning or refrigeration equipment is prohibited.
A.
(a) Any air-cooling, heating or dehumidifying unit or system
(b) Refrigeration or freezer unit, equipment or system
(c) Display cabinets, bottle coolers, vending machines, dispensing units and soda fountains
(d) Any motorised equipment or conveyance including off-road vehicles
(e) Motor vehicles as defined under the Road Traffic Act
(f) Vessels as defined under the Shipping Act
(g) Refrigerated containers
(h) Aerosol cans

C.
Substances Foams and solvents, which use, contain CFCs
