Cultural & Historic Resources

Chapter Introduction
Jamaica is rich in historic sites, buildings and monuments, and
attracts the attention of archeologists and historians from all
over the world. These sites reflect the various colonial and native
interactions of our history, and are found in all parishes as well
as offshore. Heritage tourism is a relatively new area of interest

product, for revenues, and for supporting restoration of historic
sites. The integration of cultural and nature tourism into a coherent
ecotourism programme requires further attention of the appropriate
authorities and the private sector
