Two Prosecuted Under Wild Life Protection Act During Game Bird Hunting Season

Three weeks into the 2014 Game Bird Hunting Season, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is reporting that two persons were prosecuted and several hunters warned for breaches under the Wild Life Protection Act.

The prosecution and warning were issued in the parishes of Trelawny, St. Elizabeth, Clarendon and St. Catherine.

The prosecutions were made in St. Elizabeth for hunting in a game reserve. The case will be heard in the Santa Cruz Residents Magistrates Court in St. Elizabeth on September 22, 2014.

NEPA is reminding the public that a licence is required to hunt during the season and hunting in game reserves is strictly prohibited.

The 2014 Game Bird Hunting Season opened on Saturday, 16 August and closes on Sunday, 21 September 2014. Hunting sessions are: sunrise to 9:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. to sunset on Saturdays and sunrise to 9:00a.m. on Sundays.
