Stonebrook Vista Developers complying with conditions of NRCA Permit

Developers of the Stonebrook Vista development in Florence Hall, Trelawny is in compliance with the conditions of the permit issued by the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) to construct a sewage treatment facility. This is according to the National Environment & Planning Agency (NEPA) which responded to protests mounted by residents in Hague on Monday (July 2). The residents claimed that they were being affected by an odor from a sewage treatment facility being constructed to serve the development.

NEPA conducted a joint site visit and verification exercise on Wednesday (July 4) with representatives from the Public Health Department and the Trelawny Parish Council. The Team found no evidence of an odour or a malfunctioning sewage treatment facility. The pond to which the residence referred is in fact a reed bed which does not have surface flow of water.

The system under construction comprises four reed beds, one of which was constructed several months ago. The Developer adopted an incremental approach to construction and is now in the process of constructing two additional other beds. The fourth will be constructed later. The reed beds are also being located and constructed at the site earlier approved by the NRCA.
