Oil Spill In The Vicinity Of Petrojam, Kingston Harbour

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is reporting the occurrence of a major oil spill in the Kingston Harbour in the vicinity of Petrojam.

A team from NEPA is currently onsite assessing the situation and collaborating with the “First Responders” including the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard (JDFCG), in the clean-up process. The spill has extended to the Gordon Cay Area and clean-up activities are underway.

Preliminary information is that the spill occurred at approximately 10 a.m. this morning. The Agency is advising marine interest to exercise caution when using the area.
