Dead End Beach is a public bathing beach located on Jimmy Cliff Avenue in Montego Bay. The beach is located less than 2 minutes away from the area popularly known as 'the Hip Strip'. The beach is less than a 30-minute walk from Sangster International Airport and just a five-minute drive away.
The beach is characterised by coarse cream sand and is approximately 70 metres in length and 18 metres in width. The slope of the beach is gentle. Remnants of an old dock structure is located within the nearshore on the eastern section of the beach. Backshore vegetation includes coconut trees (Cocos spp.) and seagrape (Coccoloba uvifera).
The beach is accessed at the end of Jimmy Cliff Boulevard at the “dead end.” Parking is available for a few vehicles with paid parking offered by the Municipal Corporation along the main road.
The beach is currently in its natural state. However, there exists several benches and chairs present along the backshore. Food can be purchased from vendors within the vicinity of the beach. There are no bathrooms, showers, or changing room facilities available to support recreational use of the beach.
The beach is suitable for swimming, wading, beach football and beach volleyball. Aviation enthusiast will undoubtedly enjoy watching the nearby approach of airlines while relaxing along the shore. In addition, there are nearby hotels, stores, restaurants and bars where beachgoers can enjoy the day. Patrons can also enjoy surrounding attractions such as Margaritaville, Rocklands Bird Sanctuary and Great River rafting tours.
