Frenchman Beach is a dual purpose, public bathing and fishing beach located in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. The eastern section of the beach is designated for bathing and the western for fishing.
The beach is characterised by fine cream coloured sand extending approximately 350 meters in length and 20 metres in width. The backshore is vegetated with seaside mahoe (Thespesia populnea) and coastal grasses. There is evidence of beach erosion.
The beach is accessed of the Treasure Beach main road. There is a public landward access via an alleyway that only allows pedestrian traffic. There is no designated parking. However, parking is available along the road for a few vehicles.
The beach is currently in its natural state, and there is no existing infrastructure to facilitate recreational use. Frenchman’s Restaurant is located to the west of the public bathing beach and offers local and international cuisines. Seating and bathroom facilities are also available at the restaurant.
The area is suitable for fishing, beach football and beach volleyball. Jack Sprat, a popular restaurant in the south coast that offers a wide variety of food is located approximately 2 minutes from the beach by vehicle. Nearby accommodations include Pelican Villa, Golden Sand Beach Resort and Tallawah Villas and Treasure Beach Hotel.
