Murdock Beach is a public bathing beach located in St. Mary, with the closest town being Ohio Rios. Following the coastline, it is 0.14 km from James Bond Beach.
The beach is approximately 118 metres in length and has brown fine to coarse grain sand with large cobble stones which originated from river which empties directly west of the beach. A large rubble groyne is at the mouth of the river and separates it from the beach. Seagrass beds are located close offshore with the wider area forming part of the Oracabessa Bay Special Fishery Conservation Area. The backshore is vegetated with seaside mahoe (Thespesia populnea) and coconut (Cocos spp.) There is a large pond that supports a stand of healthy mangroves.
The beach is located along the James Bond Beach main road. It is accessed by a parochial marl road approximately 0.5 km from the North Coast Highway. There is no designated parking, however the area is able to accommodate a few vehicles.
The beach is currently in its natural state, and there is no existing infrastructure to facilitate recreational use.
The area is suitable for wading, jogging, picnics and beach football. Patrons can explore nearby attractions, including Mystic Mountains Jamaica Adventure Park, Noel Coward’s Firefly House, Bridge Farm Blue Jamaica, Dolphin Cove and Water Land Park.
