Pagee Beach, also called Frontier, is both a public bathing and fishing beach located in Port Maria, St. Mary. The eastern section of the beach is designated for fishing and the western for bathing. It is located 21 minutes from Ian Fleming International Airport.

Description & Environmental Features

Pagee Beach is composed mainly of fine-grained, light brown sand stretching about 1000 metres (3,280 ft) in length. The backshore is vegetated with Coconut trees (Cocos nucifera), palm trees, coastal grasses, and Morning Glory (Ipomoea pes-caprae). Two concrete drains extend approximately 50 metres into the sea.

Accessibility and Parking

The beach is easily accessible as it is located along the main road, directly in front of the Port Maria Courthouse. Parking is available along the length of the beach.

Amenities

The beach is currently in its natural state and there exists no infrastructure to facilitate recreational use.

Things to do

The beach is suitable for strolling and land-based activities such as beach volleyball and football. Patrons may also purchase fish on the beach. Beachgoers may opt to explore the interiors of the parish for unspoilt treasures such as Tacky Falls and Kwame waterfalls.
