San San Beach is located in San San, Portland, less 30 minutes from Port Antonio.
The natural sediment of the beach is fine white sand that spans a length of approximately 450 metres. The beach is located in a large bay with Alligator Head to the west and Pellew/Monkey Island to the 200 metres to the east. The backshore is vegetated with seagrape (Coccoloba uvifera), seaside mahoe (Thespesia populnea), coconut (Cocos spp.), West Indian almond (Terminalia catappa), quickstick (Gliricidia sepium) and coastal grasses. An old concrete dock is located in the middle of the crescent shaped bay. Vibrant coral reefs and seagrass beds are located in the nearshore with the wider area forming part of the East Portland Special Fishery Conservation Area.
The beach is accessible from the A4 main road. Parking is available for several vehicles.
There is a gazebo area equipped with tables and chairs to accommodate large gatherings. However, there is no food service available at the beach. Bathrooms and changing room facilities as well as showers are available.
While at the beach, patrons can enjoy swimming, snorkelling, and beach football. The beach is fit for swimming, strolling, and snorkelling and gatherings. There are various attractions nearby, including the nearby Pellew Island, Reach Falls, Boston Jerk Centre, Blue Lagoon, and the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park.
