San San Beach

San San Beach is located in San San, Portland, less 30 minutes from Port Antonio. The beach is located in a large bay with Alligator Head to the west and Pellew/Monkey Island to the 200 metres to the east.

Description & Environmental Features

The natural sediment of the beach is fine white sand approximately 450 metres in length, while the backshore vegetation includes coastal grasses, seaside mahoe, coconut, palm, and West Indian almond. An old concrete dock is located in the middle of the crescent shaped bay. Vibrant coral reefs and seagrass beds are located in the nearshore with the wider area forming part of the East Portland Special Fishery Conservation Area.

Accessibility and Parking

The beach is accessible from the A4 main road. Parking is available for 10–12 vehicles.

Food services are available on the beach as there are restaurants and bars present offering an array of cuisine to patrons. There are also bathrooms and showers available. While at the beach, patrons can enjoy swimming, snorkelling, and beach football. The beach has a large area that can facilitate large gatherings.

The beach is fit for swimming, strolling, and snorkelling and gatherings. There are various attractions nearby, including the nearby Pellew Island, Reach Falls, Boston Jerk Centre, Blue Lagoon, and the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park.
