Sunset Beach is a public bathing beach located on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard, Montego Bay. The beach is located less than 2 minutes from the area popularly known as 'the Hip Strip'. The beach is less than 30 minutes away from the Sangster International Airport by foot, and five minutes by car.
The beach consists of coarse cream sand with backshore vegetation featuring palm trees. The beach is very narrow and is not very large. The near to offshore regions of the beach are comprised of seagrass beds and a fringing reef complex that supports marine biodiversity.
The beach is accessed directly off Jimmy Cliff Boulevard. The entrance to the beach only allows for pedestrian traffic. There is no designated parking area. However, the Municipal Corporation offers paid parking along the main road.
The beach is currently in its natural state, and there is no existing infrastructure to facilitate recreational use. Food can be purchased from vendors within the vicinity of the beach.
The beach is pleasant for swimming and wading. Aviation enthusiast will undoubtedly enjoy watching the nearby approach of airlines while relaxing along the shore. In addition, there are nearby hotels, stores, restaurants and bars where beachgoers can enjoy the day. Patrons can also enjoy surrounding attractions such as Margaritaville, Rocklands Bird Sanctuary and Great River rafting tours.
