Swallow Hole is located in Runaway Bay, St. Ann. It is a little less than 30 minutes from Ocho Rios.
The natural sediment of the beach is comprised of coarse white sand with backshore vegetation of West Indian almond, coconut, palm, and coastal grasses. The beach is approximately 20 metres long and 6 metres wide. Seagrass beds are located roughly 1–2 metres from the swash zone, while the near to offshore areas are known to contain corals reefs. The Thatch Walk Gully system empties along the eastern segment of the beach.
The beach is located off the A1 main road. Parking is available along A1 main road for a few vehicles, approximately 5 minutes' walk from the beach.
The beach is small and can facilitate swimming and small gatherings. There is no food service or other amenity.
Beachgoers can enjoy swimming, beach football and small picnics. Various attractions are nearby, including Green Grotto Cave and Puerto Seco Beach.
